Commission a game and create new connections!

Julie Laut began offering custom curated trivia events from her home in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, in November 2020, expanding on the success of her weekly Friday night CU Lockdown (CULT) games.

Julie's carefully planned online and in person game events are specially designed to meet each group's goals. Whether you are looking to bring family and friends together, build community within your organization, or find a unique way to draw an audience to your work, Julie can create the perfect event for your needs.

Each game typically includes four unique rounds of trivia, a curated playlist, signups and emails, and tech needed to host a fully online Zoom-based or in-person event. Julie can host events for up to 35 teams (max 6 players per team) with no limit on the number of Zoom connections required. Costs for most custom game nights range from $225-$350. Special rates for non-profits.

Spurlock Museum loved the events Julie put together in conjunction with an exhibit on American politics and campaigns! Her trivia questions were lots of fun and worked so well with learning goals for our exhibit: thinking about important aspects of the American political experience like suffrage, voter turnout, and image-making in political personas. It’s been so meaningful to have a new way to engage patrons at a time when we couldn’t invite people into the physical space of the museum.

Each year during the last week of December, we celebrate the holidays with Peggy's extended family in Chicago by going out to eat and attending a live event together (often, a Second City performance). This year, the pandemic made this impossible, so we asked Julie to host a Trivia Night event for the family. It was such a wonderful fun way for us to play together and we were able to include family members from all over the country. Julie even created trivia questions oriented toward our family's background and interests. Highly recommended!

As head of a large academic department at U of I, and in these pandemic, remote times I was thinking of ways to build community for my people. Naturally, I thought of Julie! We had her come in and run a Zoom trivia night for us, as only she can do it. As a host Julie is warm, positive, fun, and can do the smoothest breakout rooms I have ever seen. There was much enjoyment among the large age range of participants (20's - 70's), some of whom had never played trivia before. Thanks, Julie, for making these dark days a little lighter.
